The Karnataka government has tabled a motion in the state assembly, seeking approval for the second instalment of the supplementary estimates for the current fiscal year, amounting to a considerable Rs 6,279.87 crore.

The breakdown of the supplementary estimates reveals Rs 23.46 crore designated as charged expenditure, while the voted expenditure stands at Rs 6,256.41 crore. Additionally, Rs 618.11 crore will be sourced from Reserve funds, contingent on obtaining assembly approval. The total expenditure from the Consolidated Fund is projected to be Rs 5,661.76 crore, with Rs 2,240.32 crore supported by Central Assistance, leading to a net cash outgo of Rs 3,421.44 crore.

According to the government's motion, this financial requirement will be addressed through the state's revenue receipts, and if needed, by reprioritizing spending along with potential expenditure savings and borrowings.
