Navi Mumbai police have filed charges against two individuals accused of illegally dumping hazardous chemicals on a farm. The accused, ages 39 and 50, are alleged to have discarded these chemicals in Dhansar village, Panvel on March 6, fully aware of the potential threats to environmental and human health.
The incident came to light following a complaint from an official of the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, prompting Taloja police to officially register a case on March 8. They are pursued under various regulations including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Environment (Protection) Act, and the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act.
