The accident unfolded when the Gorakhpur depot-attached bus, heading to Rudrapur, was diverted at the Gauribazar crossing. Taking a turn near Devgaon, the bus struck a stationary crane, lost control, and overturned.

Quickly reacting, police personnel assisted trapped passengers and ensured they received medical attention at a nearby health center. Traffic on the Deoria-Gorakhpur road experienced a two-hour disruption before being restored.
