India's merchandise exports witnessed a growth of 1.87% in December 2025, reaching USD 38.5 billion, according to Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal. Imports, however, surged to USD 63.55 billion, up from USD 58.43 billion the previous year.

This resulted in a trade deficit of USD 25 billion for the month under review. Nevertheless, Agrawal expressed optimism about India's export trajectory, highlighting its resilience amid global uncertainties.

For the current fiscal year, projections suggest that exports of goods and services could surpass USD 850 billion. Notably, exports from April to December rose by 2.44% to USD 330.29 billion.
