The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) announced on Friday a special live trading session slated for February 1, 2026, which surprisingly falls on a Sunday, coinciding with the Union Budget presentation. The circular, issued by the Futures & Options Department, confirmed that trading would proceed with standard market hours.
According to the plan, the usual market operations will commence at 09:15 hrs and conclude at 15:30 hrs, with the trade modification window closing at 16:15 hrs. A survey conducted by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) revealed an emphasis on revitalizing domestic manufacturing, aligning with 'Make in India', and identified fiscal challenges concerning compliance, logistics, and access to long-term capital.
The survey, involving key sectors such as manufacturing, services, and IT, pointed out that 55% of participants remain optimistic about business growth in the next year, 32% are neutral, and 13% pessimistic. Industry voices underscore that enhancing manufacturing is critical for realizing 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat', with emphasis also on aiding MSMEs and easing tax regimes.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman hosted a Pre-Budget Consultation with States and Union Territories, marking her tenth preparatory meeting for the 2026-27 Union Budget. Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a pre-budget assembly with top economists. The Union Budget will be presented on February 1, consistent with tradition.
