In a significant move to enhance India's aviation capabilities, Apogee Aerospace has placed an order worth Rs 3,500 crore for 15 amphibian aircraft from Australia's Amphibian Aerospace Industries (AAI). This strategic collaboration aims to develop an amphibian aviation ecosystem in India, providing a boost to the growing aerospace sector.

The Indian company announced plans to invest Rs 500 crore in establishing facilities for tail-section manufacturing, maintenance, and advanced systems integration in India. The collaboration seeks to capitalize on India's blue economy by introducing AAI's Albatross 2.0 amphibious aircraft, anticipated to be operational within 18-24 months.

Furthermore, the Union Budget 2026-27 proposes incentives and a new Seaplane Viability Gap Funding Scheme to promote indigenous seaplane manufacturing, aligning with the government's vision to enhance connectivity and tourism. These developments mark a critical step towards achieving self-reliance in the aerospace industry.
