The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is nearing completion of snow clearance on the crucial Mughal Road, a key link connecting Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu with Shopian in South Kashmir. Officials anticipate that the operation will be finished within 48 hours, heralding a significant improvement in regional connectivity.
This effort represents a first-of-its-kind mid-winter snow clearance initiative under the BRO's management, aiming to restore the road previously closed due to heavy snowfall since January. Teams are actively working from both ends of the road, seeking to ensure a single-lane passage for initial traffic.
Upon completion of clearance, the district administration will evaluate conditions for reopening. The operation is expected to boost economic activity, benefiting local traders and businesses and promoting tourism. Residents have expressed optimism regarding the enhanced movement of goods and passengers once the road is reopened.
