Guwahati Airport's New Terminal: A Gateway to the World

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the opening of the new terminal at Guwahati Airport, operational from February 22. The terminal, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to enhance connectivity and transform the airport into a major transit hub. It's poised to accommodate 13.1 million passengers annually.

The newly constructed terminal at Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport is set to open on February 22, according to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. In a statement on social media, Sarma emphasized the transformative nature of the project, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 20.

From transforming open land into a world-class infrastructure, the new terminal reflects a strategic vision for improved connectivity in Assam. Sarma hailed this achievement as a step towards a more connected and confident region poised to handle increased air traffic and foster economic growth.

Scheduled to welcome both domestic and international flights by March, the Rs 4,000-crore terminal can accommodate 13.1 million passengers annually. The previous terminal will undergo conversion into a dedicated cargo hub, further enhancing the airport's capacity and utility in the coming years.
