World Endurance Championship in Qatar Postponed Amid Regional Tensions

The World Endurance Championship (WEC) has postponed its season-opening race in Qatar, citing increased geopolitical tensions following U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran, along with regional airport closures.

Originally scheduled for March 26-28, the race at the Lusail International Circuit has been delayed, with the season now set to commence in Italy at the Six Hours of Imola on April 17-19. The WEC emphasized prioritizing the safety of competitors, personnel, and fans in making this decision.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, head of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), thanked organizers for their cooperation and confirmed efforts to reschedule the event for later in the 2026 season. The postponement marks the first major motorsport event in the region affected by ongoing conflicts.
