In a dramatic sea rescue operation, the Indian Coast Guard is tirelessly searching for two crew members of a fishing boat that collided with a merchant vessel off the Kollam coast. Nine other crew members were successfully rescued, sparking a comprehensive investigation into the maritime mishap.
The incident occurred on Saturday, when the fishing boat, named St Joseph, anchored for fishing, was rammed by the Panama-registered merchant vessel MT Solis, around 120 nautical miles off the coast. The Indian Coast Guard Ship Anagh was promptly dispatched upon receiving an alert about the sinking vessel.
Despite the initial reports of recovered bodies, authorities corrected their statement, intensifying efforts to locate the missing individuals. The Directorate General of Shipping has initiated a formal investigation to ascertain the cause of the collision, while the rescued crew receives medical attention.
