Kansas City Airport Reopens After Threat Investigation
The Kansas City International Airport terminal was evacuated due to a potential threat, causing a shutdown. Flights were held on the taxiway during this time. After a review by the FBI, the threat was deemed non-credible, leading to the terminal's reopening and the resumption of normal operations.
The Kansas City International Airport terminal was reopened on Sunday afternoon, following its closure due to a potential threat. An evacuation was initiated at approximately 11:15 am, as authorities investigated the situation.
Flights that arrived during the closure were held on the taxiway. However, the shutdown lasted for only about two hours. By early afternoon, the threat was reviewed by the FBI and deemed non-credible. Consequently, normal operations resumed, according to a social media update from U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.
Among those affected was Logan Hawley, a traveler waiting to board a flight to Texas. He described the swift evacuation process initiated by airport personnel, stating that a group of around 2,000 people was quickly ushered onto the tarmac. The prompt response of police and K9 units was noted during the incident.
