Liege's mayor, Willy Demeyer, condemned the incident as 'an extremely violent act of antisemitism' during an interview with RTBF. While no injuries were reported, the blast shattered windows of the synagogue and a building opposite it.
Authorities have cordoned off the area, and a specialized counter-terrorism team is spearheading the investigation. Local police, however, have not yet provided further details regarding the cause of the explosion.
