Locals are flocking to purchase new clothes, delicious treats, and festive necessities. Yet, local shop owners express concern over the dent in sales caused by e-commerce giants.
Shopkeepers acknowledge the inevitable rise of e-commerce, noting its impact on their businesses. Asif Ahmad Bhat, who runs a readymade clothing store in Srinagar, laments the cut-throat competition posed by both online platforms and local businessmen offering goods at cheaper rates via social media.
Meanwhile, local bakeries face challenges from 'cloud kitchens'—home-based baking ventures using online platforms to attract customers with competitive pricing and doorstep delivery. Despite these hurdles, the economically vibrant Eid market, now pegged at Rs 1,500 crore, thrives on innovation and adaptive strategies.
