The U.S. military has expanded its maritime blockade against Iran, extending the restrictions to a wide array of contraband cargos. According to an advisory issued by the U.S. Navy on Thursday, vessels attempting to reach Iranian territory may face search and seizure actions.
This blockade comes after an initial advisory was announced on Monday, which specified that vessels, regardless of their location, would be subject to visitation, boarding, search, and seizure.
The list of contraband includes weapons, ammunition, nuclear materials, as well as products such as crude and refined oil, iron, steel, and aluminum, reflecting heightened tensions in the region.
