India's Export Strategy: Navigating Crisis and Opportunities with New Zealand
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will meet with export promotion councils and industry associations to enhance India's exports. This meeting follows a new free trade agreement with New Zealand. Indian exports face challenges from geopolitical tensions, particularly affecting trade with the Middle East.
In a strategic move to enhance India's export performance, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is set to convene with representatives from export promotion councils and industry associations on April 27. This significant meeting aligns with India and New Zealand finalizing a free trade agreement at Bharat Mandapam.
The gathering assumes heightened importance amid current geopolitical tensions, which have adversely impacted Indian exports, most notably to the Middle East. The region witnessed a dramatic 57.95% fall in exports for March, exacerbated by the US-Israel conflict with Iran.
Though India's trade deficit narrowed significantly in March due to reduced imports, challenges persist, as evidenced by a notable 7.44% drop in merchandise exports from March. The discussions aim to devise strategies to bolster outbound shipments under these challenging conditions.
