US Sanctions Chinese Firm for Importing Iranian Oil
The US has sanctioned a China-based oil terminal operator, Qingdao Haiye, for importing Iranian oil. Multiple entities and individuals, including vessel management companies, were targeted due to their involvement in Iran's oil trade. The US aims to disrupt Iran's illicit oil trade that funds terrorism and destabilization.
The United States has intensified its enforcement against Iran's oil trade by sanctioning Qingdao Haiye Oil Terminal Co., Ltd., a Chinese crude oil terminal operator. The company's involvement in importing Iranian petroleum products is at the center of recent US actions.
This move also includes sanctions against Chinese national Xingchun Li, two vessel management companies, and is part of broader efforts against illicit Iranian oil exports. The measures specifically target those engaged in deceptive shipping practices that aid in the Iranian export supply chain.
The US Departments of State and Treasury have warned the maritime industry of potential sanctions if involved in facilitating Iranian oil trade or paying tolls to Iran for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz. These actions aim to curtail revenue sources for Iran's regime, accused of funding terrorism and causing regional instability.
