The much-anticipated commercial operation of the Vande Bharat Express on the Jammu-Srinagar route has begun, marking a significant milestone in rail connectivity in the region. The train, inaugurated by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, reduces the travel time to under five hours from the previous 12 to 24 hours by road.
The semi-high-speed train, adorned with flowers, embarked on its journey from Jammu railway station's platform No. 7 amid fanfare. It will operate six days a week, excluding Tuesdays, connecting Jammu Tawi and Srinagar with an efficient travel option for tourists and residents alike.
Equipped with advanced technology, the train's launch after overcoming numerous engineering challenges, showcases a new era of safe and convenient travel in Jammu and Kashmir. Passengers praised the service for its comfort and affordability, hailing it as a 'game-changer' for the region's connectivity.
