Blaze at BEST Depot: Electric Bus Engulfed in Flames

An electric double-decker bus was destroyed by fire at a BEST depot in Mumbai's Kurla area. No injuries were reported, as the bus was unoccupied during the incident, which occurred during routine servicing. The fire brigade quickly controlled the blaze; the cause remains undetermined.

In a surprising turn of events on Sunday, a double-decker electric bus was completely gutted in a fire at the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) depot in Mumbai’s Kurla area. Fortunately, the bus was unoccupied at the time, and no injuries have been reported.

The fire erupted inside the Kurla BEST bus depot near Kanakia Building around 4.14 pm. Quick actions by the Mumbai Fire Brigade managed to bring the blaze under control swiftly. However, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, according to initial information received from the fire brigade.

The destroyed bus was part of a new batch of 50 electric double-decker vehicles introduced into the city’s fleet of approximately 2,700 buses. Officials are conducting investigations to determine the cause of the fire incident.
