The Telangana government has outlined an ambitious target, aiming to provide loans worth approximately Rs 27,000 crore to women-led Self Help Groups (SHGs) by the financial year 2026-27. This initiative is part of a broader plan to economically empower women in the state.

State Women and Child Welfare Minister D Anasuya Seethakka announced the annual credit plan on Thursday, setting a loan provision target of Rs 26,621.47 crore for the 2026-27 fiscal year. Last year, financial institutions extended Rs 25,228.89 crore in loans to SHGs, according to official sources.

The program has garnered participation from high-profile officials, including State government Special Chief Secretary M Dana Kishore and SERP CEO Divya Devarajan. Telangana's network of women SHGs comprises 67 lakh members, part of a broader vision to transform one crore individuals into 'crorepatis'. Strategic moves include the establishment of solar power plants managed by SHGs and entrusting school management and uniform stitching to women's groups.
