Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday travelled through regular traffic from the city airport to his residence here, avoiding the usual traffic restrictions imposed for VIP convoy movement to prevent inconvenience to the public. Reddy, who returned to the city from Delhi, travelled in normal traffic conditions without roadblocks typically enforced for his convoy, official sources said. Reddy on May 6 directed DGP C V Anand to ensure that public movement is not disrupted during the movement of his convoy and those of other dignitaries across the state. The CM emphasised that people should not be made to wait on roads for prolonged periods due to convoy movements. Reddy expressed concern over severe traffic congestion near the Hyderabad airport while he was proceeding to Delhi. Taking serious note of the situation, he instructed the DGP to initiate action against officials responsible for lapses and ensure that routine public movement is not affected due to convoy arrangements. He also suggested that vehicles coming from the opposite direction should not be stopped unnecessarily, and that traffic should be regulated in a manner that minimises public inconvenience. The CM stressed strict action against officials found negligent. Following the CM's directions, the DGP held a video conference with all Sub-Inspector-level and above officers of the Law and Order and Traffic Police across all commissionerates and issued instructions.
