The Netherlands plays a key role as India's trading partner and gateway to the EU.
In a strategic move to bolster economic ties, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal engaged in significant discussions with the Netherlands' Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Sjoerd Sjoerdsma. The focus of the talks centered on enhancing bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two nations.
The discussions aimed at expanding trade and investment flows, facilitating skilled professional mobility, and expediting the Joint Trade & Investment Committee meetings for a more structured economic engagement. Both ministers reaffirmed the commitment to broadening the strategic partnership, with the Netherlands already established as a major trading partner for India in Europe.
As India looks to the Netherlands as a logistics hub for EU exports, the collaboration promises access to Dutch expertise in water management and sustainable agriculture. This framework is part of a broader strategy aligned with India’s developmental and climate goals, further supported by the newly finalized India-European Union Free Trade Agreement.
