Stepping Into Quality: India's New Footwear Testing Lab Boosts Industry Standards

A state-of-the-art footwear testing laboratory has opened at the National Test House (Northern Region) in Ghaziabad, aiming to bolster the quality infrastructure in India's labor-intensive footwear sector. The facility, adhering to Indian Standards (IS), offers extensive testing capabilities across various footwear categories.

Strategically located close to major manufacturing hubs, the lab promises faster turnaround and affordable access for MSMEs, exporters, manufacturers, and regulatory bodies. The ministry highlights its potential to help Indian footwear producers meet stringent domestic and international standards, enhancing both export competitiveness and market acceptance.

This initiative supports India's broader national quality infrastructure goals, aligning with the Make in India campaign and Viksit Bharat vision. By reducing reliance on overseas certification and shortening lead times for exports, the lab strengthens India's stance as a premier global manufacturing destination.
