In a sudden disruption to early Monday, a powerful magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck China's southwestern Guangxi region, leading to the tragic loss of two lives and compelling the evacuation of over 7,000 residents in the city of Liuzhou. Rescue operations are vigorously underway while authorities caution about potential transport disruptions.
The earthquake resulted in the collapse of thirteen buildings, as confirmed by state broadcaster CCTV. In addition, four individuals have been hospitalized, though none are currently in life-threatening condition. The regional railway authorities have raised concerns, electing to scrutinize the integrity of the rail line infrastructure to ensure safety.
