KVIC Aims for Historic Business Milestone with Expanding Khadi Revolution
The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) targets a groundbreaking Rs 2.51 lakh crore business by 2027, following a record Rs 1.87 lakh crore in 2026. With growing employment initiatives and a planned e-commerce platform, khadi's influence and market are set to soar under PM Modi's leadership.
The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has ambitiously set its sights on reaching a business volume of Rs 2.51 lakh crore by March 2027, marking a significant leap from its previous record of Rs 1.87 lakh crore in the fiscal year 2025-26. KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar highlighted the commission's robust growth trajectory during a press conference, attributing their success to the supportive leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Kumar emphasized the sector's substantial contribution to employment, revealing that Khadi Gram Udyog currently provides jobs to over two crore individuals nationwide. Under the strategic direction of the Prime Minister, the initiative has markedly enhanced the ecosystem of khadi and village industries, bolstering both production and market connectivity, he noted.
Further strengthening efforts are underway with plans to introduce a dedicated e-commerce platform to meet the rising demand from young consumers, who now view khadi not just as traditional attire, but as a fashion statement. Kumar also pointed to the role of government schemes like the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme in fueling entrepreneurship and noted KVIC's global promotional efforts, which include fashion showcases in venues such as Moscow Fashion Week.
