M&M tractor sales down 8% at 28,552 units in April

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Thursday reported 8 per cent decline in total tractor sales at 28,552 units in April this year. The company had sold 30,925 units in April 2018.

Domestic tractor sales in April 2019 dropped 8 per cent to 27,495 units, as compared to 29,884 units in the year-ago period, M&M said in a statement. Exports, however, rose 2 per cent to 1,057 in the previous month as against 1,041 units shipped out in April 2018, it added.

"We have sold 27,495 tractors in the domestic market during April 2019. We expect that the prediction of a normal southwest monsoon will bring positive sentiment and boost tractor demand," said Rajesh Jejurikar, president for Farm Equipment Sector at Mahindra & Mahindra.
