University of Kerala has denied Bollywood actor Sunny Leone's performance at its engineering campus due to an existing directive from the Higher Education Department banning 'outside bands' on campuses, following a recent stampede incident. The Vice-Chancellor highlighted financial and regulatory concerns as additional reasons for the decision.

The University of Kerala has reportedly denied permission for a performance by Bollywood actor Sunny Leone at its engineering campus, planned for July 5 as part of a tech fest organized by the students union.

Vice-Chancellor Mohanan Kunnummal revealed that the decision aligned with an existing directive from the Higher Education Department, which bans 'outside bands' on campuses following a recent stampede incident at CUSAT campus.

Furthermore, Kunnummal emphasized financial and regulatory concerns, noting that substantial amounts of money would need to be collected to host a Bollywood celebrity for only 300 students. The incident underscores the stringent rules regarding campus events that require permission from the university's Registrar.
