In an unprecedented move aimed at young researchers, Visva Bharati University has launched a new lecture series where scholars can present their projects, shifting the focus beyond traditional paper and field work. The initiative, announced on Monday, aims to foster enhanced presentation skills and interdisciplinary collaboration.
This historic decision will open the floor to academics outside the university through the Zoom platform, enriching the academic discourse. Atig Ghosh, the university's spokesperson, noted that this platform will elevate the quality of research and provide a much-needed space for methodological discussions.
'Until now, researchers lacked a forum for discussing project methodologies,' Ghosh highlighted. 'With this lecture series, researchers will not only showcase their work but also engage in discussions, broadening their research horizons.'
The inaugural session is set for June 27 and will be accessible to non-university academics as well. Researcher Somnath Sow praised the initiative, emphasizing the need for every researcher to communicate their findings. Notably, the lecture series will see researchers themselves moderating discussions, a significant departure from tradition.
