The Fazilka district administration in Punjab has introduced an innovative 'bag-free day' initiative for government primary schools. The program is designed to foster creativity and provide a stress-free learning environment for students, officials announced on Sunday.
According to Fazilka District Education Officer Shiv Pal, regular classes will be suspended on these days in favor of co-curricular activities such as rafting, storytelling, class discussions, and yoga. This change aims to enhance creativity, skills, and holistic development.
Fazilka Deputy Commissioner Senu Duggal highlighted that these 'bag-free' days will also teach teamwork, communication, and good manners. The initiative, recently launched at Government Primary School, Ekta Colony in Abohar, promises to improve both mental and physical health. The district aims to apply this approach to all 468 primary schools, impacting around 72,000 students.
