Rau's IAS Study Circle has announced a Rs 50 lakh compensation for each family of the three UPSC aspirants who tragically drowned in the institute's basement library due to a rainwater flood last week. The announcement came five days after the incident.
'We are offering Rs 50 lakh to the family of each student who has died. Half the money will be given now, and the remaining within six months or once our CEO Abhishek Gupta is released,' said Rau's advocate Mohit Saraf to PTI videos. Gupta, along with six others, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Families of the victims, including Shreya Yadav and Nevin Dalvin, are pushing for justice and claim they haven't been contacted about the compensation. Protesting civil service aspirants argue that the compensation is insufficient and a tactic to divert attention from the main issues.
