Bhuniya, who was appointed by Governor C V Ananda Bose on May 31, 2023, indicated that internal pressures within the state-run institution forced his hand. Speaking to a group of student protestors, he announced his decision amidst grievances over delayed examinations.
Bhuniya's resignation letter stated, 'Everyone wants me not to be in the chair. That's why I have sent my resignation letter to the right place.' University officials are now awaiting Raj Bhavan's response to the matter.
