In a significant move, Jammu and Kashmir's new government, spearheaded by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, has overturned a previous decision regarding the academic calendar. On Wednesday, Abdullah announced the change from the March session back to the November session.
This marks the first major policy reversal under Abdullah's leadership, counteracting a decision made by the LG administration in 2022 aimed at synchronizing the region's academic calendar with the rest of the nation.
The decision follows substantial pressure from parents and students advocating for the November schedule. Abdullah, alongside School Education Minister Sakina Itoo, confirmed that classes 1 to 9 will follow this revised timetable immediately, with implementation for classes 10 to 12 set for the next academic year.
