Congress MP Digvijaya Singh on Tuesday leveled serious criticisms against the government's hiring practices in educational institutions, suggesting that the push for contractual faculty facilitated the clandestine promotion of ruling party ideologies.

Singh raised alarm over the New Education Policy (NEP), which he argued would burden economically disadvantaged students with higher costs. The MP underscored that while numerous government schools shuttered, a surge of private institutions have emerged, compelling students to shoulder additional tuition expenses.

In the Rajya Sabha discussion, Singh highlighted critical staffing shortages in Navodaya and Kendriya Vidyalayas, with thousands of vacancies being temporarily filled by contract workers. He argued this practice undermines equal representation for SC, ST, and OBC communities in academic positions and called for significant reforms in the education system.
