Delhi School Admissions: Overcoming Barriers for EWS, DG, and CWSN Children

Nearly 6,000 children in Delhi have been admitted to entry-level classes in private unaided schools under EWS, DG, and CWSN categories, following a computerised draw. The admissions, overseen by the Directorate of Education, adhere to guidelines regarding age and eligibility, promoting inclusivity for economically and socially disadvantaged groups.

In a significant step towards inclusive education, nearly 6,000 children have secured admission in Delhi's private unaided schools. The Directorate of Education revealed that selections were done through a computerised draw, targeting entry-level classes under EWS, Disadvantaged Group (DG), and Children with Special Needs (CWSN) categories.

According to the process, 2,919 children were allocated to nursery, 733 to kindergarten, and 2,341 to Class 1. This initiative, guided by the DoE's January guidelines, adheres to the age and eligibility criteria designed for each group.

The emphasis was on ensuring equitable opportunities, with specific provisions for children from economically weak, socially disadvantaged groups, or those with special needs, stimulating progress towards accessible education.
