Ranchi School Scandal: Probe Launched into Teacher Misconduct Allegations

A committee formed by Ranchi district's administration is investigating allegations of sexual misconduct against a teacher. The investigation was initiated after an anonymous letter detailed accusations from students regarding inappropriate behavior via chats and video calls. The committee is expected to report its findings in 48 hours.

In Ranchi, Jharkhand, a three-member committee has commenced an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct by a school teacher. This move follows an anonymous letter to the state education department, which detailed claims of inappropriate behavior through chats and video calls.

Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri ordered officials to probe the accusations, with the district education officer (DEO) and the district superintendent of education (DSE) spearheading the inquiry. According to DEO Vinay Kumar, the committee visited the school on Wednesday, and action against the teacher will be determined based on its findings.

The accused teacher was not present during the DSE's visit to the school. A notice has been sent to the teacher, demanding his presence. Meanwhile, the committee must present a detailed report within 48 hours, while the minority school management committee holds the authority to make decisions based on these findings.
