In a troubling incident in Arunachal Pradesh, a university professor was taken into custody following allegations of molesting a student, as confirmed by officials on Friday.
The professor, associated with Arunachal University of Studies, was apprehended after the Tai Khampti Youth Organisation (TKYO) intervened and presented him to the police shortly after midnight on Thursday.
According to the complaint, the student sought help from the professor on her thesis. Allegedly, he called her to his residence, assuring her of academic favors despite her incomplete work, and then attempted to molest her when she tried to depart. TKYO has indicated that he might be a repeat offender, and steps have been taken to protect the student's academic standing. The university has since terminated the professor, and police are investigating the matter.
