Rajasthan High Court Cracks Down on School Skipping for Coaching Classes

The Rajasthan High Court mandates that CBSE and RBSE ensure student attendance in schools, preventing them from skipping classes for coaching centers. Surprise inspections will be conducted, and disciplinary action will be taken against violations. The court stresses the importance of regular school attendance for academic success.

The Rajasthan High Court has issued a firm directive to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) to ensure students from classes nine to 12 attend schools instead of leaving for coaching centers.

In a bid to address the issue, a division bench of Justice Dinesh Mehta and Justice Anoop Kumar Dhand requested both educational boards to organize surprise inspections to ensure attendance during school hours. The court has emphasized that skipping school without valid reason will lead to disciplinary action against students, schools, and the pertinent authorities.

The ruling requires the state and educational boards to form Special Investigating Teams (SITs) for random inspections of schools and coaching centers. Should students be found at coaching centers during school hours, strict actions will be implemented against all involved parties. This decision aims to mitigate negative impacts on student academics by prioritizing school attendance.
