Kasturba Medical College Gains Esteem in Singapore's Medical Sphere

Kasturba Medical College, part of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, has been recognized by the Singapore Government as one of eight newly approved overseas medical schools, effective February 1, 2026. This positions it among an elite group of 120 globally recognized medical institutions, underscoring its academic and clinical excellence.

In a significant advancement for Indian medical education, Kasturba Medical College (KMC) in Manipal has been recognized by the Singapore Government as one of the eight newly endorsed international medical institutions. This acknowledgment, effective from February 2026, aligns KMC with 120 elite global medical schools.

The Singapore Medical Council's (SMC) decision followed a comprehensive review of overseas medical qualifications, evaluating academic rigor, language of instruction, clinical exposure, and graduate performance. Dr. H.S. Ballal, Pro Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, expressed pride in the recognition, viewing it as a testament to the college's unwavering commitment to excellence.

This accolade amplifies KMC's international stature and expands global opportunities for its graduates. As the only Indian institution to receive this recognition, KMC underscores its status as a leader in medical education, continually producing globally competitive professionals. From 2026, KMC graduates will be eligible for medical registration in Singapore, broadening their professional horizons.
