Delhi Launches 'Safe School Campaign' for Enhanced Fire Safety

Delhi has initiated a city-wide fire safety awareness campaign focusing on schools and hospitals. Launched by Home Minister Ashish, this initiative aims to strengthen fire prevention mechanisms. It also honors 66 firefighters who died in a 1944 incident, emphasizing collective responsibility in fostering fire-aware societies.

In a bid to bolster fire safety across the national capital, Delhi Home Minister Ashish unveiled an extensive city-wide awareness drive on Wednesday. This includes the launch of the 'Safe School Campaign,' aimed at enhancing safety protocols in educational institutions and hospitals.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Education Department and the Delhi Fire Service, aligns with Fire Service Week observed annually from April 14 to 20. Minister Ashish, through a virtual address, emphasized the collective responsibility of ensuring public safety and urged citizens to actively participate in promoting fire prevention and preparedness.

Highlighting the significance of Fire Service Week, Ashish paid homage to 66 firefighters who perished in a catastrophic fire on a ship in Mumbai in 1944. The minister also called for vigilance and preparedness among students, parents, and school authorities, stressing the importance of participating in mock drills and following safety measures. Over 1,000 awareness camps have already educated more than 50,000 people in fire safety protocols, underscoring the campaign's outreach.
