In a decisive move, the Dehradun district administration has demolished 56 dilapidated school buildings, ensuring the safety of students. This action adheres to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's directive prioritizing student safety. Officials report that eight more buildings are slated for demolition within a month.
According to the Chief Education Officer's report, the demolitions include 52 primary and four secondary school buildings, with 14 of 17 condemned classrooms also razed. The remaining classrooms will face demolition soon, with plans for all structures to be cleared within 30 days.
Student safety remains paramount, with officials providing alternative educational arrangements to prevent classroom disruption. The education department has been tasked with ongoing surveillance of potentially unsafe buildings, and a state government proposal seeks an extension to address demolition delays due to technical hurdles.
