The Maharaja Sayajirao University in Gujarat's Vadodara has launched a new module titled 'Modi Tattva' within its Sociology syllabus. This initiative is aimed at analyzing the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) impact on Indian society.
Dr. Virendra Singh, head of the sociology department, explained that the module forms part of the university's 'Sociology of Patriotism' course, which is included in a two-year Master's program. The curriculum seeks to provide a scientific examination of Modi's role and influence, akin to the charismatic leadership theories of Max Weber, observed in historical figures like Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King.
The course will engage students in exploring topics such as media influence, digital nationalism, and globalization. It also aims to understand the reasons behind Modi's widespread popularity and the social dynamics surrounding policies like demonetization and the digital revolution.
