The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has launched the Global Social Science Association (GSSA), aiming to create a collaborative international platform for academic exchange and research. The initiative is in partnership with 25 universities globally.

During the Global Colloquium on 'Building Bridges in Social Sciences', TISS Vice Chancellor, Prof Badri Narayan Tiwari, highlighted the association's goals to address issues related to the Global South, including poverty, health, migration, and geopolitics. The forum seeks to bridge the Global North and South through meaningful collaboration rooted in Indian social realities.

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized the critical role of social sciences in addressing global challenges like AI, climate change, and inequality. Meanwhile, Higher Education secretary, Vineet Joshi, spoke on the government's vision for a knowledge-centred society, supported by initiatives like SPARC and GYAN to enhance international academic cooperation.
