In a bid to enhance tribal research and cultural preservation, Maharashtra's Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil announced the establishment of new tribal study centers at universities in Amravati and Gadchiroli. The initiative will be supported by a Rs 3 crore allocation from the Tribal Development Department.
These centers are modeled after existing ones in Jalgaon, Nanded, and Mumbai. A recent meeting at Mantralaya, convened by Ministers Patil and Ashok Uike, along with educational leaders and government officials, detailed the funding and operational framework for the project.
The centers aim not only to document and preserve tribal culture but also to promote research initiatives that could lead to the socio-economic development of tribal communities. By safeguarding traditional knowledge and promoting educational endeavors, the centers will serve as a vital resource for cultural enrichment.
