CBSE Defends On-Screen Marking Amid Contract Controversy

The CBSE has defended its On-Screen Marking System as a secure platform, amidst controversy surrounding a recent contract for digital evaluation. The Board insists the system is thoroughly audited and safe, countering allegations from Rahul Gandhi regarding the contract and past controversies involving the awarded company.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has responded to criticism over its On-Screen Marking System, claiming it is a secure and robust IT platform. The Board assured that its digital evaluation portal has not shown any vulnerabilities.

The controversy stems from a contract given to Coempt Edutech for evaluating class 12 board exam answer books for 2026. Allegations arose regarding potential system compromises, but CBSE maintains that its system has undergone rigorous security audits and is supported by strong digital infrastructure.

Rahul Gandhi has called for a judicial probe, pointing to past controversies involving the contracted firm, Coempt Edutech, which allegedly used the name Globarena during earlier incidents in Telangana. CBSE, however, has rejected these claims, stating that the tender process adhered to the General Financial Rules.

In the background of these allegations, some students have raised concerns about discrepancies in their exam scores and the digitized answer sheets provided by the Board. Despite these issues, CBSE underscores that multiple quality control measures are in place to ensure the integrity of the evaluation process.
