Sub-Lieutenant Anamika B Rajeev has set a new precedent by becoming the Indian Navy's first woman helicopter pilot, receiving the esteemed 'Golden Wings' during the passing-out parade at a naval air station in Arakkonam, Tamil Nadu.

Another notable achievement was marked by Lt Jamyang Tsewang, the first commissioned naval officer from Ladakh, who also completed his training as a qualified helicopter pilot.

These historic milestones underscore the Navy's commitment to gender inclusivity and advancing career opportunities for women. Both Rajeev and Tsewang were among the 21 officers to receive the 'Golden Wings' from Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command, during the ceremony at INS Rajali.

The parade on Friday signified the culmination of an intensive 22-week training programme at the Indian Naval Air Squadron 561, dedicated to training helicopter pilots. The newly qualified pilots will be assigned to various operational units, undertaking crucial missions such as reconnaissance and search and rescue operations.
