Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday called on residents to take pride in speaking their mother tongue, Kannada. Emphasizing the importance of creating a 'Kannada atmosphere,' the CM said it is the duty of every Kannadiga to protect the Kannada language, land, and water.

Addressing the public after performing 'bhoomi puja' for the construction of a 25-feet-tall bronze statue of Nada Devi Bhuvaneshwari at Vidhana Soudha, Siddaramaiah stressed that speaking in one's mother tongue should be a matter of pride. He urged people living in Karnataka to learn Kannada and promoted the need for a thriving Kannada-speaking environment.

Siddaramaiah highlighted that while Kannadigas are generous and welcoming, it is essential to develop respect and admiration for the Kannada language, land, and country without the extremism seen in other states. He encouraged residents to speak Kannada proudly and create a supportive linguistic environment in Karnataka.
