On Friday, the Culture and Tourism ministries commemorated International Yoga Day at the historic Purana Quila and Qutub Minar sites in Delhi, reinforcing the cultural significance of the practice.

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, overseeing the event, underscored India's influential role in introducing yoga to the world. 'India has taught 'yoga' to the world,' he remarked.

The event featured Shekhawat leading a yoga session at the Sun Dial Lawns within the iconic Qutub Minar complex. He highlighted how yoga, now internationally recognized due to efforts sanctioned by Modi, is integral to India's cultural identity. 'International Yoga Day, which was decided due to the efforts of Modiji, marks its 10th anniversary today. Alongside the Tourism Ministry team, I performed yoga asanas at Qutub Minar to promote its daily practice,' Shekhawat shared via social media.

The Ministry of Culture, in coordination with the Archaeological Survey of India, organized another significant yoga event at the centuries-old Purana Quila. Secretary Govind Mohan attended, emphasizing the importance of consistent yoga practice for harmonizing mind and body and balancing thoughts and actions. 'Yoga stimulates the harmony of mind and body, and balance between thoughts and action,' he stated in a ministry release.

This year marks the 10th International Day of Yoga, celebrated annually on June 21 to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga for overall health and well-being.
