In a tragic incident on Wednesday, five members of a family from Kangra district sustained injuries from falling rocks while trekking to the Manimahesh peak in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh. The family, part of a group of 14, had commenced their journey from Hadsar.

The mishap occurred near Goi Nallah, as recounted in a video that surfaced on social media. 'While we were resting, we heard the sound of stones falling and started running downwards but some of us were hit by the stones and sustained injuries,' one of the devotees said in the purported video, noting that five people were injured.

Paramedical staff and an ambulance from the civil hospital in Bharmour quickly responded to the emergency. Two of the injured were assessed to require further medical treatment and have been referred to Chamba Medical College. The Manimahesh Kailash peak, a prominent pilgrimage and trekking destination at an altitude of 18,547 feet, will see the start of the official Manimahesh Yatra from September 7 to September 23.
