Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu has announced a boycott of the Paris Olympics' closing ceremony, citing a 'scandalous situation' that robbed gymnast Ana Barbosu of her bronze medal.

The controversy erupted after American gymnast Jordan Chiles' coaches appealed her score, which led to a 0.1 increase, pushing Barbosu out of the medal standings.

Ciolacu stated this as dishonorable and unacceptable, vowing to honor Barbosu and fifth-place finisher Sabrina Maneca-Voinea as Olympic medalists. The incident also drew criticism from gymnastics legend Nadia Comaneci, who questioned the mental health impact on athletes.
