The suspect had pledged allegiance to ISIS online and amassed chemicals, machetes, and technical devices at his home in Ternitz. National intelligence head Omar Haijawi-Pirchner revealed that his plan was to target the estimated 20,000 'Swiftie' fans outside Ernst Happel Stadium.

The plot has led to the cancellation of Swift’s three sold-out concerts in Vienna, much to the dismay of fans. Authorities noted that foreign intelligence played a crucial role in foiling the plot. The incident underscores the persistent threat posed by ISIS and the ongoing efforts of Austrian authorities to counteract such dangers.
