Residents in Kerala's landslide-ravaged Wayanad district experienced panic on Friday morning after hearing a booming sound and underground reverberation. The incident led authorities to relocate people from affected areas to safer locations.

Wayanad District Collector D R Meghashri stated that measures are being taken to ensure the safety of residents. Reports indicate that the sound and reverberation were particularly noticeable in Ambalavayal village and Vythiri Taluk.

The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) confirmed it is examining seismic records and conducting local reconnaissance. However, they have yet to find any indications of seismic activity. A school holiday has been declared in the affected region.
